IDES Fraud Memo

Friends,

It has come to our attention that there has been a rash of fraudulent Unemployment Insurance claims being submitted on behalf of retired seniors across Illinois and many other states. Initial reports indicate that a previous data breach is coming to fruition, and they’re now attempting to claim benefits using the stolen information. My office has compiled a memo of steps you can take to report this fraud to IDES, as well as other agencies that will help ensure your identity is protected from future harm.

There are links embedded in the memo, so use the PDF version provided below, as this will allow you to navigate directly to the correct websites.

If you or someone you know has received a debit card in the mail without first filing for unemployment benefits, please click on the link below and follow the instructions outlined within. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact my office at 847.229.5499.

I hope this finds you and your family happy, healthy, and safe!
