NORTHBROOK, IL — Saying the ongoing events in Ukraine have been “heart-wrenching to watch,” Illinois State Representative Jonathan Carroll (D-Northbrook) is helping relief efforts by collecting donations through April 11 at his Northbrook office.
“We’re hearing reports of maternity hospitals and animal shelters getting shelled, orphanages being evacuated, and children being separated from their families,” Carroll said.
Carroll represents Illinois’ 57th district, including all or parts of Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Glenview, Mount Prospect, Northbrook, Palatine, Prospect Heights and Wheeling.
The donation drive at 3153 Dundee Road began on April 11. Non-perishable foods, as well as basic supplies, are being accepted. In partnership with Temple Beth-El of Northbrook, the following donations are the most needed:
- Pillows
- Bed linens
- Toothpaste: travel size preferred
- Shampoo
- Soap
- Tampons
- Pads
- Diapers (any size)
- Tylenol
- Ibuprofen
- Protein bars
- Nutella
Carroll said 100 percent of what is collected at his office will be turned over to Temple Beth-El, 3610 Dundee Road at the conclusion of the drive. It will then be sent to Ukraine directly to aid in the relief effort.
Those looking to donate can do so any time between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Alternatively, residents can email my Chief of Staff Mike at [email protected], or call the office at 847-229-5499 and Carroll’s staff can make a pickup.
